Hooray!!! My first ever book review! (Hahaha) I've been longing to read this book for a very long time and finally, I have finished it! Thank you to my good friend Novelyn for lending me this book because I was kinda scared if I bought it and I might not like it. (Hahaha)
Paper Towns is my 2nd book which I finished reading.(I didn't quite like An Abundance of Katherines and The Fault in our Stars so I did not finish them and I did however like Looking for Alaska) I am not a really big fan of John Green, but his books make me really curious to read the stories. Once I heard that this book is going to be a movie, (after TFIOS) I really wanted to read this book right away!
With John Green, his books is not your ordinary Young Adult, teen drama book, but it's actually a book with deeper thoughts and meanings of life as a teenager. You can really see yourself as Quentin, he really deals his everyday life and sticks on what life has to offer him. But Margo on the other hand, is the rebellious young woman, ready for an everyday adventure. It's either you see yourself in either of the two of them. Not to mention, also the other characters are quite funny and great as well.
The main point of the book is the message: "how we see people, and how we imagine them to be, isn’t necessarily who they really are." There are so many metaphors John Green wrote which you really need to stop for a moment and really understand what it really has to say. And also deep and passionate quotes or sayings that you can really relate it to your own life.
Overall, I like the whole story and the concept of the book, but let me spoil you a little something, the ending was not great at all. (Which is also what my friends told me) But again, most of John Green's novels does not end happily and I think it's good that he really makes it realistic when you read it. And if you're wondering why is the book titled "Paper Towns", well, I must say you must go and read this book for you to find out!
★★★★/ 4 Stars
Oh yeah, I am also pretty much excited that this book will be a movie (Also Looking for Alaska!). I was happy to find out that Nate Wolff would be the one playing Q and was quite shocked and curious why they picked the Victoria Secret angel, Cara Delevigne to play Margo. Let's just wait and see how the movie adaptation will turn out next year!
